aERIAL Shores

When standing before the vastness of the sea, I am often moved to reflect on life, finding peace in that moment of stillness. Growing up near the ocean, I’ve come to appreciate its calm and reflective qualities, which I seek to translate into my work. I use cool-toned color fields to evoke the vastness of the sea, inspiring a sense of calm in the viewer while also incorporating feelings of energy and optimism. White borders and frames further enhance the sense of openness, making the artwork feel one with the surrounding space and evoking a feeling of airiness.

My photographs often focus on the water itself, eliminating the horizon line to emphasize the movement and texture of the waves. In doing so, the water becomes a dynamic color field, filling the image with ever-changing patterns. The addition of sand offers a brief respite, but it is the sky that anchors the composition, transforming the image into a “landscape.” This approach distorts traditional perspective, placing figures on an equal plane with the water and creating a new way of perceiving the relationship between land, sea, and sky. Through this, I offer a fresh perspective on the ocean, where the viewer can experience both its solitude and energy.
